Out with the OLD in with the NEW

So many things are happening right now, and since last time I posted on my blog.

I'll go backwards:

I am decluttering my life right now. Anything that doesn't need to be here, is on it's way to being gone. Some of it is already burned. Yes, I went through all my old schoolwork from 1991 and up! (oh my gawd) There is so much that I'm probably still going to be burning it till the end of winter. It's handy like that. lol.
I remembered how soul crushing school was for me. How my teacher would grade everything with this all purpose -- poor, ok, good, very good, and excellent -- He even graded our journals! and artwork with these labels. I really had issues with this teacher. I had him for two years (gr. 6 &7) and the first year was fine, but the second year, I rebelled. We were doing the same freaking activities that we had done in grade 6 (like the 'evolution of man' project) I won't go into the details of my vandetta against mr.nick el but let's just say that I don't think he will *ever* forget me. Man, I had issues. lol.
So yeah, I'm getting a lot of things done these days. I still have to get back to crafting, but I'm working on ultra-organizing the space right now too, so it seems like it's bringing a breath of fresh air into the room. I've joined a decluttering group on the forum to keep me going. It's so nice to hear of everyones stories of getting all their stuff purged and cleansed. It's a healing time. Time to begin anew. 2009.

Haeven's Birthday and Christmas/Solstice happened:
It didn't turn out great for my sweet girl :( It was really snowing on that day so only two kids showed up (I had invited 5-6 families) and other stuff happened that I don't really want to go into. I tried to make it a good birthday for her though, like I do every year.

Christmas/Solstice was OK, but we didn't have any family to spend it with. We ended up going to our friends Diana and Isabella's house for X-mas night. The girls got to watch The Little Mermaid and mommy got to have a drinking buddy. I needed it on this x-mas.

2009 will be a better year for us.

River Trail

We have been going for walks with our new friends Kathrin and Amelie. They are from Germany. This picture is from the bridge over the kaslo river. It's a walking bridge and it's so nicely made. I wish I would've taken a picture of it from one end to the other.. maybe on Friday; we're going to go on another walk, all the way around on the trail this time. It should take us a few hours. It feels so good to go out of the house and get back into nature. I have been wanting to do this for a long time, but I always found excuses not to. Which are, of course, some pretty good excuses like that there are bears *everywhere* here. It feels safe to walk with a group, though. I always told myself that I would go for walks all the time once I got a dog. But that's a long way off. Anyways, we are enjoying going for walks. I even got a cool book on local hikes, and Kathrin and I are going to try some of them out.

First Day of Kindergarten!

At last school has begun. The teacher was doing home visits last week, which was so nice for all of us. So I have to update my blog with such big news, and pictures too.
Here's my beautiful girl before entering the threshold...

The harvest is coming in now. I've canned batches of jam and peaches. I really want to get some cucumbers to make pickles, but have enough on my plate for the moment. My Oldest Daughter (whom I'll call Sunshine) is starting kindergarten soon. The teacher is coming for a home visit on thursday. It's so old fashioned that she does that still. I love it! I love this town!

This picture is priceless. I want to spread it around the internet a bit, if I can. Hopefully some people will stop mutilating their son's genitals one
day.
